Brielle Kwarta Thompson

I am a graduate student in the Quantitative Ecology and Resource Management program (QERM) at the University of Washington. I am advised by Dr. Julian Olden and Dr. Sarah Converse and I am a member of the Washington Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. My current research involves building adaptive management frameworks for two aquatic invasive species in the Columbia River Basin: rusty crayfish and flowering rush. The goal of the adaptive management framework is to inform iterative management decisions that are plagued with uncertainty. More broadly, my research interests include decision analysis, invasion biology, and applying mathematical and statistical methods to estimate population abundance and dynamics of invasive species. Outside of research, I have enjoyed being involved in science outreach programs at UW such as Students Explore Aquatic Sciences (SEAS) and being a mentor in a variety of mentorship programs.
